Assamese Deluge
Assamese Deluge: A problem procrastinated since ages
Brahmaputra is one of the major rivers of Asia.
Its fury inspired many travellers and invaders from as far
as Persia.
Originating in China and flowing through Bangladesh and
India,
It covers a whopping length of 2900 km before culminating in
the Ganges Delta
It is multilingual and strikes a chord with Chinese,
Bangladeshi and Indians alike
Enduring a long arduous journey, it takes all hardships in
its stride.
Dihang in Arunachal, Jamuna in Bangladesh and Yarlung
Tsangpo in Tibet,
Different people call it with different names that they have
set.
It doesn’t take long for the river to turn from serene life
giver to a deadly killer.
The frequent catastrophic flooding in Assam makes the river
an annual sinner.
It leads to a heavy loss of livestock, human lives and
property.
Hundreds of animals die in Kaziranga as a result of this
tragedy.
Government spends thousands of crores annually in relief and
rehabilitation.
It helps the needy in cash and kind to relieve their
monetary tension.
Besides Hog deers and Sambars ,loss of the precious
One-horned Rhino worries a wildlife lover.
These floods are inevitable and would continue in an
unrelenting manner.
